Baroque Inspired!!!

I finally have time to start my illustration work! I've had a piece that has been bouncing around in my head for a while, so it'll be the first one I draw to ease me back into drawing and get it out of my system. It'll include:

- My obsession with pastel hair.
- An overall pastel theme.
- Lavender eyelashes.
- Diamonds and pearls.

Here is where I am currently up to:

I update regularly on my Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. All the links should be down the side of the blog!

Cloudless Sulphur Butterfly Illustration

Hello! A long time and no posting I know!

Its been a very stressful and busy time for me for the past six months, but events have unfolded recently that means I'll have a bit of time on my hands to draw again.

I chose to draw a bright and colourful butterfly, the Cloudless Sulphur, because it is something I have wanted to do for a while now. I have a small collection of real taxidermy butterflies, and I wanted to recreate that through my illustration.

The actual illustration was made with colouring pencils on neutral paper.

I then used an Ikea RIBBA box frame in white and suspended the illustration away from the paper. This particular piece is for sale, so feel free to email me or PM me on facebook for more information. In the future I'll be making prints of this butterfly to put into more box frames!

Rhaeinye

Here is my new piece that I made for my Mum's 50th birthday.

She requested a blue alien girl, so I took that brief and rolled with it. I think the turning point of the project was when I had the idea to give her pink hair. I was originally going to give her orange hair, but I thought the pink would suit my Mum's tastes more and made the whole thing look really sugary and cute. When I saw that I was going down the ultra cute road I made her eyes really bright and added white freckles.

I have had quite a long break between this piece and the last one I did at the beginning of the year, I've generally been sorting out my life, moving house and finding a new job. Now that I am settled I will be attending to my illustration again.

There will be prints, laptop skins, phone cases and cushions of thins available on my Society6 page.

Started Drawing Again!

Things have been pretty crazy these past few months. I've moved house, so imagine all the craziness involved with that and I hope you understand why I haven't been that active!

I'm currently drawing a birthday present for my mum. She asked me for a blue alien girl and off I went all inspired and ready to go. It's been quite a while since I picked up a pencil, and I didn't realise quite how much I missed it. The repetitive strokes, getting the shading just right and choosing the perfect colours. I feel like a piece of my life has clicked back into place, and I now have so many ideas that I want to execute.

Here is where I am upto so far with the alien girl piece:

She doesn't have a name yet, I'm still waiting for some inspiration to hit me. Since I've started drawing again I have started an Instagram profile! I usually post daily updates of where I am up to, or inspiration I see in my daily life. If you would like to follow me my username is natashahuttonart. I'll probably update this blog about once a week, and it'll be a more indepth update on where I am than any of my other social media sites.

Enjoy!

Cute Robin Cushions!

This is a piece that I did for my Nan's 70th birthday. Happy Birthday Nanny!!!! As usual, made with pencils and pastels on neutral paper.

I have also put this up on Society6, so you can purchase this as a print or you can get this adorable fluffy robin on a cushion, which looks sooooo cute!
Here is the link to the cushions: LINK

I'm very busy at work at the moment, which is having limitations on the amount of energy I have at the end of the day to draw. But I'm currently on working on bits and pieces to put onto my Etsy shop and building up a greetings card portfolio.
